We are not looking for a single impressive deployment or a well-funded pilot that never left the boardroom presentation. We are looking for an organization where AI has become structural — woven into how it serves customers, manages operations, develops products, and makes decisions at scale. The winner will have moved from AI as experiment to AI as infrastructure

Banking is one of the most data-rich and simultaneously most risk-averse industries on the continent. This award recognizes the bank, microfinance institution, or financial services organization that has used that data advantage to genuinely reinvent how it operates and serves customers through AI. From credit decisioning and fraud detection to customer onboarding, personalized financial advice, and back-office automation — the winning institution will have deployed AI in ways that made a measurable difference to its customers, its efficiency, and its competitiveness. We are looking for transformation, not decoration.

Africa's telecoms companies sit on some of the continent's most valuable data assets and touch more citizens daily than almost any other industry. This award recognizes the telecommunications company that has gone furthest in using AI not just to optimize its network — which is table stakes at this point — but to reinvent its customer relationships, create new revenue streams, and build intelligence into the full stack of how it operates. Whether through AI-powered customer service, predictive churn management, network fault detection, or entirely new AI-driven products, the winner will have shown that a telco can be more than a pipe.

This award recognizes the retailer or e-commerce business that has used AI to fundamentally change how it understands, attracts, serves, and retains customers. African retail is complex — fragmented supply chains, diverse consumer behaviors, infrastructure gaps, and the constant competition between formal and informal markets. The winner will have demonstrated that AI can make African logistics not just more efficient but more reliable — and that reliability creates real value for the businesses and communities depending on it.

This award sits above all other enterprise categories because it recognizes something rarer and harder than any single transformation initiative. An AI-First Corporate is not a company that has added AI to its existing model — it is a company that has rebuilt its operating model around AI. Strategy is AI-informed. Products are AI-powered.
